Kunlun mountains constitute one of the longest mountain chains in Asia, and thought to be one of the birth places of mythical creatures and fairytales. Kunlun mountains were descirbed as the location of the ShangriLa monastery in the 1913 novel Lost Horizon by English writer James Hilton.
